Federal troops, Marines, and hundreds of federal agents were deployed across Los Angeles County after a series of ICE raids triggered protests. But the scale of the response? It doesn’t match the numbers.

This bar graph breaks down who was deployed, who was detained, and what it really looks like as a percentage of the county’s 9.76 million residents.

Just 0.002% of the population was arrested or detained.

What do you think?

1992 was the last time the National Guard was called into L.A. at the request of the governor, during the Rodney King Riots. Was federal intervention necessary this weekend? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
